Are there prerequisites?
None. This course is open to anyone needing advanced marine medical skills; however, 100% attendance and participation are mandatory for successful completion.
How long is the course?
The training spans 31 hours of instruction. You must demonstrate all skill competencies and achieve a minimum mark of 75% on the written, closed-book evaluation.
What materials are used?
We use the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Care for Professional Responders Reference Text, with an optional workbook available for deeper study and mastery.
Can I recertify later?
Per Transport Canada publication TP 13008E, recertification for the Marine Advanced First Aid course is not permitted. The full course must be taken again.
What is the dual cert?
Graduates earn both an industry-recognized 3-year Red Cross Marine Advanced First Aid certificate and a formal Transport Canada certification.
